My Father's House

SCRIPTURE

"But why did you need to search?" [Jesus] asked. "Didn't you know that I must be in my Father's house?"
-Luke 2:49 NLT

OBSERVATION

Where can we find Jesus? In his Father's house, or more specifically, he can always be found where God's presence dwells the strongest. Before the temple, that place was the Tabernacle or the Tent of Meeting. Metaphorically speaking, Jesus would be found inside the Holy of Holies. 

Today we can find Jesus through the Holy Spirit. That means that He is not restrained to a specific place and can be found anywhere. However, that does not mean that His presence is the same everywhere. There are specific places where He is very easy to find. Churches are one such place. The scripture says that where two or three are gathered in His Name that there He will be also. So a place where several believers are gathered together to worship Him is a great place to encounter Him!

APPLICATION

"But why did you need to search?" Because there is great resistance and enemies trying to prevent people from finding Him. That is why the people who recognize themselves as children of God need to help the lost discover themselves as His children too. We need to help them find the way, the truth, and the life. We need to welcome them home in the Heavenly Father's house.

PRAYER

My Father who is in heaven,

Blessed be Your name. You are the Father to the fatherless. You give wise counsel. You bring security. You are the great provider. You are the Heavenly Father. Your Son, Jesus Christ said that he must be in Your house so may the lost and broken-hearted find him there. May Your children help their lost brothers and sisters find their way into Your home. Let Your household expand and keep growing larger and larger! I declare that the enemy's camp will become smaller and smaller, as we, Your people, take back what the enemy stole.

Thank You for being our Father!

Obedience vs Disobedience
