Common Ground
SCRIPTURE
When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings.
-1 Corinthians 9:22-23 NLT
OBSERVATION
"Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone..."
How hard is this to do? I mean, really? 🤔 How hard is it to find something in common with another person? There will always be disagreements as everyone cannot be able to see eye-to-eye on everything. But there should at least be SOMETHING that two people can find in common with each other, right? 😀
Let me share a quote from Comedian, Dave Chappelle. "Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone's lifestyle, you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe, say, or do. Both are nonsense. You don't have to compromise convictions to be compassionate."
I could be wrong, but I believe a major problem in society today is that they believe in humanity too much, and hugely underestimate God's Power and Authority over the universe. I am not including everyone just those who seem to overestimate the ability of humankind to solve their own problems and be able to make progress.
Question. Have you studied history? The Holocaust does not just suddenly happen 💀 Mass genocides throughout history does not just happen. To the people who politically try to protect specific people-groups: Who are you protecting them from? Is it not from OTHER people???
How can humanity solve its own problems when it cannot even find common ground with each other? Evil does not just suddenly happen. It simply exists 👿
In the name of "love" in trying to protect certain people, do these protectors not end up "hating" ❤ the persecutors? Therefore, instead of spreading "love," does the cycle of hate 😈 not just move on to different people? Where does it end? Is love that weak?
I believe human love is too weak to be able to overcome all the hate and evil in the world 💔
But DIVINE love? 💗🙌🙇
🤔
APPLICATION
If human love is too weak to overcome evil then the question is if there is something out there that is greater than evil? For me, personally, I believe the answer is the Creator of the Universe, God. If you are unsure of the existence of God then let me put it another way. If evil exists then it makes sense that the opposite of it exists as well, right? Some would say that it is God, but you can say it is some sort of Higher Power that can overcome evil. As I shared before, some people can believe humanity has the potential to overcome evil. Perhaps, but history tells us otherwise. I simply pose the question to you, the reader, that this "Higher Power" should exist and that it should also have the capacity to counteract the effects of evil. Whatever you choose to believe it could be, I leave that up to you. I just argue that it is not humanity, unfortunately. I think we need to look elsewhere for that answer outside of other people.
NOTE: this next part is a prayer to God since I am a Christian. In respect to those who believe otherwise, you do not have to continue and I thank you for reading this post! 😊
PRAYER
To the One True Living God,
I acknowledge You as the Almighty Creator of the Universe. There is no one and no thing that compares to You! I worship You as I encountered Your Glorious Presence long ago, and I constantly remember how amazing that experience was! Nothing on earth could compare to being in Your Presence and knowing that You are real, and Your infinite Love, Grace, and Mercy is overwhelming. Not only is it overwhelming, it is greater than evil and it is the most powerful thing in all of existence. No one can match Your Majesty and Power. You are eternal, and You are the epitome of Holiness.
I pray that humanity can get to know who You truly are, and then worship You as only You deserve. I will "try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings."
All for Your Glory!
Amen
