Being Independent

SCRIPTURE

But among the Lord's people, woman are not independent of men, and men are not independent of women. For although the first woman came from man, every other man was born from a woman, and everything comes from God.

1 Corinthians 11:11-12 NLT

OBSERVATION

There seems to be great importance placed upon being independent. Children eventually grow up to become adults and are expected to leave their parent's house to live by themselves. Couples break up sometimes because one person feels like the other one is too "clingy" and they want "more space." People want to determine the course of their own lives so they purposefully drift away from God. The question is who takes the top priority in a person's life? In this case, the answer is one's self.

This causes a lot tension and fighting within relationships whether between male or female, parent or child, friends, coworkers, etc. Oftentimes the fight seems to be over something insignificant, but it is really about who is the dominant one in the relationship 😤 Who comes first?

From the scripture passage we can see that the Apostle Paul say that we need to do away with such foolishness. Relationships are not supposed to be in a hierarchal system where a person is climbing a ladder towards the ☝. 🙅 It is a circle ↻ 

Yes, according to the Bible, woman first came from man. But as Paul points out, every other man then proceeded to come from a woman. So relationships between two people are a constant spinning circle that keeps rotating over and over again.

But what about God you may ask. Paul also said, "everything comes from God." True. In my circle analogy ↻ then, God is in the center of the circle. HE is what the relationship should be circling around.

APPLICATION

It amazes me how EVERYTHING revolves around God 🙌 We try so hard to do everything on our own. Pay the bills, work real hard, maintain our important relationships, and make sure to look impressive while doing it 😖 Instead of being rewarded for our efforts, do we not just end up getting burned out? 😵 Is that not why God tells us to simply rest in Him so He can renew us and give us the strength to handle all of the stresses in life? 😇 Is it not better to rely on the Almighty Creator of the universe and His strength instead of our own? 🤔

PRAYER

Almighty One who is the Strongest Being in the entire universe,

Why does Your creation neglect You and foolishly try to live our lives apart from Yourself? How arrogant and prideful are we that we think we know better than You? How utterly deceived are we by the enemy to think we do not need You at all.

How great is Your love, mercy, and grace! 💗 Instead of judging us and giving us the punishment that we deserve, You gift us with salvation from all the strife and suffering we inflict upon ourselves. You made the greatest gift of all available to us! Your very self 🙇

When we put You first then our other relationships are put into their proper place. It is never about who is greater or above the other 🙅 We are all equal, and we all deserve to be loved and accepted. We just need to understand that this kind of love and acceptance cannot be achieved by human strength alone 🙈🙉🙊 We need to rely on a Greater Power from above to be able to do that 💪

I pray for Your creation to be able to put aside our differences. To be able to stop arguing against each other. To see past our own hurt, pain, and fears 😭 To finally see the other person's anguish. To finally put a stop to all this cycle of abuse and trauma we constantly inflict upon ourselves 😫 To finally realize how much we need You 💖

May Your creation be able to love one another once again 🤗

Upcoming Battle?

I have been having disturbing dreams lately 😣 I wish I could share what they were, but unfortunately do not remember them 😕 Fortunately I still remember what I dreamt last night, and it was not that disturbing 😌 The dream came across like an anime. At first things were normal, and I was hanging out with my friends. I seemed to be either in high school or college and going through the typical things students deal with. Then suddenly I either fell asleep, or willingly transported myself and my best friend into another place. It was in a spiritual realm and we were in a vast area that had multiple shelves full of books. There was another, more mature, person with us, and he was tasked to be like a guard. The Widow's Offering

Mark 12:41-44 NLT Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts.   Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins. Jesus called his disciples to him and said,  “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions.   For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.” "For they gave a tiny  part of their surplus ..." How often do we give a tiny part of our surplus to others? Whenever I come across beggars I would like to give them a dollar to be a little generous. But see what I just said there?
