Proverbs 19 Devotion
SCRIPTURE
Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and a fool.
Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.
People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the LORD.
-verses 1-3
OBSERVATION
It is so easy to blame other people, or even the LORD, then to own up to our mistakes. We do foolish things and then make excuses for our actions rather than swallow our pride and admit we messed up. We need to remember: WHY did Adam and Eve fall in the garden? HOW did the enemy become disgraced from heaven when he was in such a lofty position? Proverbs 16:18, "Pride goes before destruction."
APPLICATION
Swallow my pride. Be humble as often as possible, and remember that I can, have, and will continue to make mistakes. There is only One who was completely blameless, yet even He surrendered His life to save me. I need to follow His divine example, and be a servant unto others.
PRAYER
All I can say is, thank You 🙏 What You have done for me I can never repay. May I then be more like You and lay down my life for others. May I not be too proud to kneel down and wash other's feet. May I take up my cross daily, and follow You.
For You alone,
Amen
