Reflecting on 2020, part 1
History will probably remember the year 2020 as the year that Covid-19 broke out across the world and became a full-blown pandemic. The whole world went into lockdown that Spring and life was never quite the same again (presumably). Plans were thrown out the window, and things were certainly chaotic for a while.
Unfortunate things did happen to me personally. I had quit my job at the end of January, and was on track to find a new job by the end of March/early April. However, I would not find a new job until July, and that only lasted a little over 3 months! I was always tired, and had little energy to do anything else when I was off. I had to quit at the end of November. It was negatively effecting my health 😫
Unfortunately, I also experience a couple of personal deaths. In April, Theodore Lewis succumbed to his physical afflictions. One month later Uncle Nam also passed away from a freak accident. Suddenly, at the beginning of December, I learned that a girl I greatly admired had also died 😔
So much was going on in April as the nation was in the early stages of lockdown that I was just numb upon hearing the news of Ted's death. I felt really bad for his widow, and wondered how I could honor his life.
Even my dad felt bad that neither of us could go to the Bay Area and mourn with our relatives for my uncle. It is a sad reality, and I still wonder to this day when I will be able to see everyone again.
I did not know the girl very well, and wished I could have. I could tell she admired me too, and we would have probably dated if we ever lived in closer proximity to each other. She was an honorable person, and was taken away far too soon.
The year started off so promisingly too. With the help of Derrick Engel, I finally got to record music for the first time! I wanted to work on my own music for so long, and was absolutely thrilled to be finally able to do so this year. I got to record four tracks, and look forward to recording more 😁
Despite everything that happened, I will most likely look back on 2020 with fondness. Recording music has been very enjoyable, and I learned a lot from the experience. Also, God has grown my faith exponentially and in ways I never thought was possible! He opened my mind to the supernatural world around me and increased my knowledge of spiritual things. I gained new friends leaning into the charismatic world of Christianity, and am excited to see how God will use me moving forward.
