My Anime Recommendations

In no particular order:

Cowboy Bebop: A modern classic! There are some weird episodes, but the good ones are oooooo sooooo good!!! The movie is good too ;-)

Vision of Escaflowne: One of my favorite series. Does take some getting used to, but once you are get ready for an entertaining experience. I do NOT recommend the movie. A very different take on the series, but can never sufficiently carry all the great points over to a 90 minute film. Gets to be too much like Evangelion.

Ruroni Kenshin: Probably another modern classic, though it does suffer from gaps in quality episodes. A big complaint is that they don't properly carry the momentum from the second season. Shame really. I recommend getting the OVAs: Samurai X (the director's cut if possible. Two dvd's for four episodes is a rip off), the first three dvd's of the regular series, the entire Kyoto story arc (the biggest reason why it is so popular!), and then Reflections to properly conclude the series.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The classic! I haven't seen the original TV series, but the movies can work just as well. I also recommend Char's Counterattack if you're like me and desire a satisfactory ending ^_^

Princess Mononoke: There just has to be at least one Miyazaki film in any anime list (a must I tell you!!!). I must confess that I haven't seen that many of his films. Only three or so... *SIGH* Anyway, this is the only movie I've seen that isn't that childish, though there's nothing wrong with that. A good movie, though it seems to polarize the fans. You either like it or don't (I can be wrong about that). This is the movie that inspired this list. My roommate watched the film and sparked a conversation. Uh... I don't know what else to say. HEH

Hmm... I keep thinking that this list should be longer... Oh well. Sometime I'll write another post with some honorable mentions and my take on some popular series and supposed classics (yes, what do I think of Sailor Moon, Dragonball, and Pokemon? Hmm...)

Till next time,
dkFX
